The beauty of coming through such a challenging time is that we are thoroughly enjoying the small things. Ben, who had started crawling in March, has spent so much time sick and miserable and lethargic that he stopped, and even now we've got him better again, he can't get around at all. We're working on those little man muscles and this morning he was hanging on his door with his dog, and it does my heart good.
The girls are finally all through the fever and on the up and up...so many have been sick with whatever this is!
I was still miserable yesterday, but there was no way I was missing end-of-the-year staff lunch. I LOVE celebrating all the little ways God has been faithful through the faculty and staff and their unique giftings.
As always, it was so full of laughter. I love the unique relationships the Emmaus team has developed as we work through so much together and love and serve the same students together.
Between the earthquake in October, the start of several new programs, the stand-still and political instability of February and March and our first graduation with multiple programs...it was a heavy year, and I'm always so proud of the way our staff meets challenges with wisdom and genuine love for the Lord and those we're serving.
There is a level-headedness and quiet peace in our staff that comes from grounded faith in the Lord and spiritual maturity and trust in each other. That undercurrent has been such huge factor in this year being so successful despite it's many challenges!
What a joy to eat food together we all didn't make and to laugh through awards and speeches.
Goat and chicken, beans and rice and plantain and fresh cherry and corosol juice.
So thankful for these men and women, our day-to-day family, serving alongside for the transformation of hearts and communities!
Thank you for your prayers for these men and women, for Emmaus, this year, and for our family!
