Sometimes, I think because life has always been so hard, games bring out the children in our students.
Maybe that's not it. Maybe this culture is just way more fun-loving.
What I do know is that our Haitian family LOVES games...and they're not a joke around here.
Once a game appears, I've never met such a competitive, animated, exuberant geographic in my life.
For two hours this morning for Friday Tutorials, instead of teaching (since I am still voiceless), we played Word Chain and then Taboo...
...and I was laughing so hard that I couldn't stop coughing...
...and the students were yelling so loud, the other classes couldn't hear.
Maybe hauling water, searching for the next meal and caring for their families robbed our friends of some of their childhood.
Today, we got some back.
Very good post Stacey. It would do all of us good to be more childlike, more trusting, more believing. I like this kind of post, lots of pictures, few words.
ReplyDeleteI have a blog, www.lordlunaticliar.blogspot.com
but I'm not so good at putting pictures in. My wife has to do that.
Love the smiles :)
