Matt left at 7 this morning and the students began to leave after breakfast. A cloud of sadness seems to have rolled in this morning, as the initial shock and horror of what has happened begins to settle in. The students were glad to return to their families but sad to leave for such an indefinite amount of time. Their dearest friends and partners in ministry all went their separate ways this morning, and they were obviously disheartened to set out alone in a hard time.

It was with such joy on Monday that we welcomed all the students back after 5 weeks off, and finally didn't live within these walls alone, and just a week later, I closed the gate again behind them.

We had a precious time of prayer and praise with them late into the night last night, and they were sent off after much worship with Lucner encouraging us each not to dwell on the terror, nor the turmoil, but to go out, and dwell on where we see Him, dwell on what we see Him doing. It was a beautiful charge, and I'm trying to remember that this morning as I sit here alone, a weepy Lily down for a much-needed morning nap and news from Matt that they got all the money and papers they needed and are on the rough road to Santiago.

Thank you for all of your prayers, and please continue to uplift them. I will let you know as and IF I am able to hear from Matt. He should return tomorrow evening.

When Lily wakes, we're setting out to speak to some neighbors we haven't met yet about the Lord. He has put me in just the perfect location for such a time as this...Talking about Him ALWAYS makes me feel better...

  4. Thank you again for your updates. We continue to pray for you, Matt, Lily and for all the students and people of Haiti. The Lord's plans are perfect, and you sure are there for such a time as this. Like Queen Esther, you were born for this day; and like her, you take your comission and continue planting the seeds of faith in the hearts of all who you meet on this rough road. The hand of our Lord is on you. His great Providence surrounds you; and His blessings abound. Take good care of yourself,
