old friends

When I told the kids we got Nora's passport, Lily did the same thing she did when Ben was born.  Been waiting a really long time, praying so hard and continually, saw the baby, and started bawling :)  Dear girl.

We've been working hard to do all this well alongside them, but we can't do much about homesick, about missing simply understanding and "getting" the people and culture around you, and now having to work so hard to understand he people and culture around us. We are all SO thankful for this chance to be going home and seeing our "old" friends and family.

Drive through ice cream helped. Can't do that in Haiti :)
Even better than ice cream, our dear friends from Haiti now living in Oregon had to cancel their trip to Europe, spent the last 10 days touring Mississippi instead, and ended up HERE! Who does that....leaves three days at the end of their vacation to spend time with the Ayars??

We are so so thankful for these happy days with Uncle Silly Bud and Ms. Cindy...thankful for our kids for grandparent days, thankful to catch up on life and ministry with the body of Christ, thankful to remember together and to encourage one another now.

We had such a fun dinner tonight with dear old friends and new friends...I LOVE these dear friends!

Playing "Gallopy-Trot" with Mr. Silly Bud around our table in Haiti...
and Ben tonight:

So thankful for those precious years of being in relationship and ministry alongside of Bud and Cindy,
and so thankful for the reminder this weekend that we still ARE.
