the Finishing Well Plan

For the first time in 13 years, no matter how unstable things in Haiti have ever been...we couldn't leave if we wanted to.

Something I never even think about--flights in and out every day--you suddenly think about when the skies are silent.  For the first time, as the kids are calling from the trees, I'm nervous about them falling.  As we prepare for the virus, it's with the knowledge that there will be no help. Not for anyone else, not for us.  If there is a crisis with our extended families...if we need something brought in...people with major health issues that cannot go...all the things people will need...

If anything...the answer is no.

Suddenly, when we thought we were already trusting the Lord in new and deeper ways...we are trusting the Lord in new and deeper ways.

There are a lot of unprecedented things happening in the world these past months, and Haiti's no exception.

We aren't an exception, either.

We can always go if we need to...an idea that has always sub-consciously divided our family with our Haitian friends and family...no longer does.

Michael, Matt and I spent a LOT of time in counseling last month putting together plans for finishing well, and I must say that hunkering down and staying away from everyone was kind of the opposite of the plan.

How many times He's reminded me Humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

The Lord knew. The Lord knows. He is with us, always has been. We are in the shadow of His wings, just like we've always been.  He is no LESS in control today than He was last month, not an ounce.

As I sat in the sun and watched the kiddos running around the yard today with sheets tied around their unburdened shoulders, yelling, "We're falcons! We're falcons!" it was with my Bible on my lap and shaky hands...Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light upon my path.

You know what we've all really been wanting someone to do?

This situation is so heavy, so complicated, so impossible to predict and plan, that we've all said again and again, It would just be nice if someone would tell us what to do, and we will do it.

Finally, today, with the falcons circling, Someone did.

Preach the Word of God.
Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not.
Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
Keep a clear mind in every situation.
Don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord.
Work at telling others the Good News, and
fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
2 Timothy 4

Our Finishing Well Plan has been lost and mourned...and replaced by His hands.

and we trust Them.

We love you. As you wait upon the Lord with us, be it on our knees.
