a few inspiring people for Him.

Last Wednesday, Aunt Sharon's sister posted a photo of Harold (their dad) on his way to Rwanda, but not until he had delivered his Meals on Wheels to people in need of them.  His 82 year old smiling face made me immediately think, "Of course he is...of course he did."

Not an hour later, we were sitting across from Uncle Dave and Aunt Marilyn, who served with Harold in Haiti and Russia for many years, also in their 80's, and the current field leaders of our team. While Harold was in Rwanda this past week, we were also praying for Dave, who was training 18 church planters, in Creole, because the guy who was supposed to couldn't, and also emailing Matt and I to check on us and to insist we be actually resting.

Pam sits beside me at dinner after baking with Lily and Sofie all afternoon and talks to me about where they need teachers of the Gospel once Emmaus has worked her out of a job, and I realize she has no plan to ever be finished with His work.  She's teaching three classes a week with NO pay, in French and English and to many students, and I just PRAISE THE LORD.
We have in our lives, in Haiti and elsewhere, too, people who have no plan of ever being finished being used by Him, and I praise Him.

I know lots of people think they should be done and resting and golfing or something. I know a lot of people think they should be finished with such crazy things, Haiti and Rwanda and what in the worlds. I bet their bodies understand the arguments, and often their minds and spirits, too, and I understand the reasons why anyone has.
But you know what?

I am incredibly, deeply humbled and honored to have these men and women of faith in our lives. I am thankful for the examples we have and share with our children of lives poured out unto Him, every day. I am thankful for the living testimonies I have of lives and gifts and talents and families being vessels for our Savior to work through, NOT for ourselves and our happiness and for our own advancement.

When Aunt Marilyn leans in...I listen.  Because I, too, am her missionfield, and I am always in need of her wisdom and sometimes tough encouragement.

I sure don't know much.

But we will always, always be missionaries.  I'm so thankful for the many who remind me that HE is the source of all our dreams, joys and delights, and to be careful to go and obey what He has said...always.
