an unexpected New Year

By the time Lisa and Adam got the girls to Miami, Mayah was in serious trouble...Lisa and Mayah headed for the ER about 15 minutes from the airport, and Adam and the older three girls are now back home in Philly.  After a long night of prayers and trouble-shooting, this afternoon (New Year's Eve) I headed to Miami, and my dad and Matt are holding down the fort in Haiti for a few days. I'm in the chidlren's hospital now with Lisa and Mayah, who has RSV and Pneumonia and was severely dehydrated.

Thankful for so many things: Miami and good medical care and Mayah being IN IT. A precious morning with my family and collective peace about mommy going. A flight with room for me, and leaving my house at 1:30 and having Mayah in my arms by 7:30. The opportunity to love on my sister...who hadn't showered or eaten or changed clothes or done anything but hold a very sick baby for a very long time, for neighbors and friends in Haiti to help who are reaching out and asking to, even for Lily and Sofie who are anxious to help Mayah and Aunt Lisa any way they can. Thankful for Matt, to have a praying and caring and loving and sending husband.  Thankful to be with my sister, who is such a loving and patient mommy.  Thankful God is in it. Thankful Mayah is His. Thankful for your prayers.
