fuel, food, friends, faith.

We have had to cancel classes today, Matt has cancelled his trip to Guyana for the Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association meetings (whew!), and schools throughout the country, scheduled to all begin on the 9th, are pushing back with hope for the 16th.

Our friend TiLou left at 6 pm last night with our empty fuel container, got in line at a gas station in town where rumor had it fuel would come at MIDNIGHT, and at 2 PM today, arrived home with fuel.  Let me clarify that: he was in line at the gas station for 14 hours to get fuel. Go to our Emmaus FB page to see a 30 second video of what that looked like today.  With a million other people. Waiting.

He said he wouldn't come back without it, and he didn't!  If you know TiLou, that's because he ALWAYS does exactly what he says.

We are THANKFUL for that precious fuel.  It is a relief to have and I know Matt is sleeping a bit better tonight...he bears the weight of a lot of people needing power! And after sitting in traffic (caused by thousands of people waiting for fuel) for hours, Gertha got in to town and back again with some produce. We've got eggs and bananas and beets again, and I'm so thankful. But until there is fuel readily available to ALL, and will be again tomorrow, until food prices and transportation prices subsequently can STOP rising, we are just waiting on the Lord and loving on the many we're with.

It's all giving she and Shayla and Noel and Micheline and whoever else is ever here at lunch time GOOD time to pray together, again and over, and I'm thankful for solid, godly women in my life to pray with and support and be supported by.

Yesterday we were praying for so long and so urgently that I didn't even look at the girls throughout, and when we finally resounded our AMEN, Nora was looking at me wide-eyed and sheepish, her entire mound of beans and rice gone before the prayer was even finished, in the middle of licking her plate...LOL :)

Anyway, today waiting on the Lord and loving on those we are with included a lot of kiddos, a lot of kiddos who STILL can't go to school and whose parents know that there is fun and safety and snacks and peace at Emmaus.

As crazy as that can make our house :), I am thankful to be that, and for ongoing sounds of laughter all day today.

Matt got a lot of work done, our staff stayed home and helped their families try to do the same things ours did.  Get fuel. Get food. Love on others. Help where you can. Focus on Him. Spend more time at His feet.

My favorite picture of the day was this one.  The girls were all squealing so loudly that you would have thought everyone was on the world's fastest roller coaster :)  So thankful for precious long-time friends in our girls lives...and one new one. One of these dear ones was the little girl I wrote about breaking my heart at the gate a few weeks ago....thankful for today.

The boys were not as into squealing, but there was a lot of brrrrrrrrrrmmmmm-ing going on.
I'm not sure how face paints came in, but we're getting creative with our activities.  This is a tiger, snow leopard, butterfly ninja princess.
At one point man-time turned into nap time...at least for poor Maxi, who has been so sick :(  Having a fan for your nap is NO small thing.
Ben and John Kennedy played ball like this for forever!
Trying to also do some homeschool...

lots of cold water baths...and more face paints :)
Matt always complains that I won't let him have a mustache.
This is why.

We are grateful grateful for your encouragement in Christ and your heartfelt prayers. They are what the world needs.

Pray on.
