the day of the Lord

In light of whatever scary thing you are facing today,
or whatever scary thing you've already faced,
in light of scary things on the news and mind,
or whatever what-ifs seem to plague us...

...1 Thessalonians 5.  The Day of the Lord.
(that would be TODAY.  The Kingdom that is NOW and NOT YET.)

While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" 
then destruction comes upon them suddenly like labor pains.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness,
that the day would overtake you like a thief.

For you are sons of light
sons of day.
We are not of night 
nor of darkness.
So let us not sleep as others do,
but let us be alert.

Since we are of the day,
put on the breastplate of faith and love
as a helmet
the hope of salvation.

For God did not destine us for wrath,
but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep,
we will live together for Him.

Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up.
