Just because we're staying offline on Sundays this year does not mean our Sabbath is without adventure! Yesterday proved to be an even bigger one than we had bargained for, but when you're with awesome family...it's good!
Matt had been asked to preach at an alumni church (we thought) about 20 minutes away. We all piled into Phil's truck, with Erin and Uncle Don, too, and headed off. Not Limbe, BELOW Limbe, at the corner. Not at the corner, but "inside." Not inside...but ALL the way. Like to the ocean.
Needless to say, we finally found it, and by the time we did and the service got underway, Sofie was out :)
After a great service with our brothers and sisters by the ocean, we had some cokes and a quick tour of the church/school...
And figured that if we were THAT close to the ocean, we really should check it out.
Which of course, we were glad we did.
Beautiful.
Black soft sand.
Driving back things were starting to get a little crowded (9 in the cab of a truck? yeah :) and so I hopped in the back...which proved BREATHTAKING in a less two-kids-are-on-my-lap-in-the-front-seat-with-Haylie sense.
Haiti, especially in the country, is SUCH a beautiful island.
And the farms? just gorgeous.
My dream home in my dream location.
Matt calls me Little-House-on-the-Prarie for a reason. I know you think we live remotely, but it's not as remotely as I would have us if I didn't think it would kill my dear husband :)
Beautiful.
Sugar cane being harvested and stacked to be taken to town and sold.
By the time we got home around 2, Matt and Lily were out and the rain finally came after we all had lunch.
Despite school and church and everything else, Sofie is still her very happiest in her underwear :)
This has been Don and Phil's big project this week...putting a hole in the wall (and soon gate) to some property EBS owns.
One of Phil's pineapples is finally almost ready!
