thankful

A dozen load of laundry and almost continual vomiting and diarrhea from Lily made yesterday a very long day, and by yesterday evening when she had dark rings around her eyes, couldn't keep down even a sip of water, and was growing more and more lethargic, I was getting worried.  Morning seemed a long way away, and she seemed to be getting worse, not better.  Poor girl.

We finally called Dr. Lee around 7 pm, and he encouraged us to try to find a certain drug to get her to stop the continual vomiting.  We didn't know where in the world we would find such a thing, when the Lord brought to my mind a medication a different doctor brought to the field when I was pregnant with Sofie and dehydrated over two years ago.  I ran to the bedroom and found the last 2 pills, and Dr. Lee quickly confirmed that was EXACTLY what she needed to take.

As soon as she took the first pill, she vomited it all up, but after 30 minutes, we tried the last dose, and FINALLY.  Twenty minutes later, she finally opened her eyes, talked to me with clarity, and begged for some water.  Little sips, little sips all night, and we now have two girls with fevers and diarrhea, but NO more vomiting.

SO thankful, so thankful.  It's terrible seeing your children in a bad place, and even worse when you know that YOU'RE in a bad place for a medical emergency.

THANK YOU, Dr. Lee, for taking house calls on Sunday nights from Haiti, Matt, for trading me out all day with Sofie and laundry and bleaching, and I'm truly thanking the Lord this morning for providing just what we needed for yesterday, 2 years ago.  So thankful things are looking a bit more up this morning, while we bathe, bleach, rest, sip, pray and watch Elmo!

Thank you for your prayers for us, even when you don't know anything is wrong!
