I am not sure that I can remember a time in my life that has been as consistently overwhelmingly busy as this past week. In-sane.
I've got all kinds of things floating around in my head and heart that I'm working on sharing with you, but it's no where near coherent yet...and I'm too exhausted, anyway.
Just this: A surprisingly simple little thing Dr. Thorton's been asking this past week has me thinking on over-drive.
Simply: "How is that working for you?"
Forget all the efforts, forget all the reasons, forget all the excuses, elements, optimism, negativity...
Just how is how we're doing things working for us?
Our approach to our marriages. How's that working for us?
The ways that we're discipling our children?
Our efforts in relationships?
Our spending plans?
Our time management?
Our ministry?
Our outlooks on things?
How's it working for us?
As Phil continues to ask that in response to missiologies and ministry, I'm finding myself reflecting on all elements of my life.
Honestly. With boldness. With truth. My approach, my attitude, my actions...are the results what I had hoped? What He wants? Giving Him glory? Bringing me and others closer to Him? In line with His Spirit?
And if not, what do I need to do? Surely not the same thing over and over again.
If it's NOT working, or not working like it could, what needs to change?
Take a minute, and ask yourself! This is your one life. The one life He's given you. How's it working for you?
Stopping, just for a moment, to THINK about the input and outputs in my life has been revolutionary. Deliberate living. Being proactive in my own life. Refusing to be complacent with the life He's given. I've got stuff to think about!!
I'll share more when my nose stops running and when we have internet! Better blogging soon...
I like to ask that to clients a lot. It's a good question :)
