friends

As if it hasn’t been clear enough lately that He is intimately in love with our little family and that He continues to have a perfect providential plan for our days, Elisa and Maria’s visit would have confirmed it.  We see Mia and Elisa once or twice a year, but saying good-bye this morning didn’t just have Lily in tears!

I’m not sure how we’ll make it without all the help they’ve poured out the last ten days…dishes and cooking and coloring with Lily, bouncing Fussy-Fuss, cleaning, grading papers, typing student letters, babysitting…the list goes on and on.

They have the spiritual gift of thoughtfulness, and came laden with daily activities for Lily, meal components for quick-and-easy cooking, new worship music, fall decorations, little gifts…

But even more than the physical help and gifts they gave, we are blessed to have had the help of friendship…Listening ears, interested questioning, prayer responses, tears at tears and shared laughter at joy, great conversations about old times and these times and the future.

Their true friendship has our family all feeling much more rested, hopeful, thankful and peaceful than we did 10 days ago…how do you thank someone for that?

We tried, and we’ll continue to thank Him for knowing what we needed and when, and for working through these two dear friends in the perfect time and way.

Meanwhile, a very tearful Lily (“I’m gonna miss themmmmm!”) is being distracted by pancakes at Dodo and Bubba’s (another blessed friendship), Matt’s off to town for an airport run, to purchase steel, chicken legs for the seminary and laundry soap, and I’m giving a test on housing, professions and the present continuous.

Go be a selfless friend to someone today…He can use you in miraculous ways just through relationship.
