His marvelous light

It has been an emotional and rather overwhelming morning as EBS began it's first day of class
with tears and fear for loved ones. The phones have been down since the earthquake, and none of our students and staff have been able to contact brothers, mothers, fathers, sisters, cousins, and friends in Port-au-Prince.

Not knowing whether your brother is dead or alive, safe and sound or hungry and hurt is a difficult platform for continuing with class. Several of our professors, translators and students were unable to get to class due the continued rains, flooding and TERRIBLE road situation, only made worse by the earthquake.

Therefore, Matt and I were both translating all morning, and all tried to continue class as normal. We had a special chapel service, however, led by students, full of much prayer and crying out for those we love, known and unknown. I was greatly touched by the passionate and personal way the staff and students called out to their God, many christening the new tile floor with their tears, many prostrate before Him and all calling out to our Father.

Greg and Cathie Benson and CSI Port-au-Prince are all ok, despite many damages, but this report from from Bollos Bible School in PAP has us continuing to cry out for our brothers and sisters. Please continue to pray for them as well, and for the many many many who are hurting so deeply.

My prayer in chapel and again now is that many who have NEVER called upon the name of the Lord might seek out their Father...that from many lips that have never called out His name, "LORD!" might spill out...that many tears that have never been comforted with lasting peace and lasting hope might be offered to our God.

It is my prayer today that the many who are trapped and dying in dark and horrific places might be met by the voice and the arms and the tears and the comfort and the love of Him Who Made Them, and that today might be a day in which MANY lift up their broken hearts to our Healer, our Restorer.

It is my prayer today that the many who are now orphaned, now childless, now widowed, now alone, that in their despairing place in this world they might be met the only touch that has made all the difference in my life.

Pray that in the midst of this cold and wet and dark and muddy day that many, SO MANY, might feel the warmth and the peace and the satisfaction of His love and His marvelous Light...it is enough.

This is Cindy and Phyllis writing to let you know that we are all safe here
at Bolosse. We were hit hard though. The Bible School building collapsed all
over the attic and the office floors. Students were in classes. Bruce,
David and a bunch of students are still working trying to get the last two
students out haven't heard noises from them recently so we're not sure
they're alive. We don't have the equipment for this. We've heard horrible
rumors of the damage around the city. Students are all up here sitting
around on the lawns will probably sleep here tonight all of us outside I'm
typing this without my glasses so can't see to find periods and hypens, etc.
Just wanted to let someone know out there that we're alive so that if you
get calls you can respond. We'll try to email family now too. Telephones
are out of course, weve turned off water, gas, electric, etc. It was a
terrifying experience and I know there are many dead outside and around.

  4. Our hearts are so full, and from this perspective, we feel helpless. All I know to do is pray that God will give you strength as you begin to walk a brand new journey; a journey that will be a true test of your calling. May God give you strength, wisdom and resources to truly minister to the people of Haiti, like never before.

we are friends of Rebekah and were very concerned about the safty of her dear friends in Haiti. We are so happy that you are safe and doing well but we are also saddened to hear the news of so many that are suffering and hurt. We continue to keep all of Haiti in our prayers and thoughts. God is still in control, and I loved your words when you said "His marvelous Light...it is enough." Amen and amen
God bless you, Jeff and Lesa
