my confidence

"My confidence is your faithfulness" we sang in church yesterday (dude, if you're in the Jackson area and you're wanting a life-giving community aiming hard at Jesus, get to Foundry), a song I've heard a thousand times and never really thought about.

In such a weary-ing, confusing and complicated time, who has the bandwidth for confidence?

There is SO much confusion, so much uncertainty, so many heart breaking situations.

In a day of masks, no masks, vaccines, no vaccines, terrorists, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, how in the world could we possibly have confidence?

Who has the answers?

Who know what is best?

Who knows the right way to think about it, the right way to handle it all...what to DO?

If we have no confidence in governments, in this or that leader in this or that country, in futures,  in clear skies or even in ourselves, how in the world could we step confidently into the day with a peace that passes understanding and a joy that is contagious?

His faithfulness.

His faithfulness, unwavering to all generations, will be our confidence. That will be our rock. That will be our anchor. That will be our guide, our example, our leadership, our hope.

What a profound truth for me today: I can be confident, steadfast and unwavering in complete uncertainty because God is who He says He is, does what He says He does, and will do what He has promised.  He is FAITHFUL.

Do I look like it?

I will rest
In Your promises
My confidence
Is Your faithfulness
Faithful, You are
Faithful, forever, You will be
Faithful, You are
All Your promises are Yes and Amen
All Your promises are Yes and Amen
