Lily's big cross country meet on the coast got rained out today and we enjoyed a day for doing all the many tasks and playing, just the six of us, at the park tonight. Oil changes, prep for tomorrow's lunch at church for people new to Foundry, cleaning out cars and closets, cutting the grass, changing out lightbulbs, laundry, a make up gymnastics class, all the little things. My little niece had a minor surgery, our dear friends in Haiti had a wedding, lots of things happening at church, and my mind's been a little all over the place!
It's a special church, this one God's brought us to, and special still to listen to Matt teach the Word to all kinds of people in all kinds of places in all kinds of languages...and it's all kind of the same. The Lord is always giving us people to LOVE and to grow alongside of, and I'm thankful for that. He has people to love and grow everywhere, I'm sure of it.
And these are special kids, even when I'm tired. Even when I've let the sass slip a little too much, let the chores go a little too mediocre, let the bedtimes go a little too late. Even when I'm floundering, even when I'm failing, even when I'm sleeping, for heavens sakes--He's not. So THANKFUL He is their Father and squeezing so much grace in the middle of far-from-perfect parents. I am genuinely grateful for the time I have with these precious four, and for the gift I have been given in homeschool.
I am far from killing it. But I'd still take four more.
Random picture of Matt at Pat's wedding in Jersey a few weeks ago...love this. Wish we all coulda been there (and glad Matt picked his blue suit! :)
There are a lot of things we get worried about...but so often we forget to take His sweet grace into account when we evaluate the situation. Keep looking for where He's at work, where He's wanting to do something, and you'll see it. Grateful for you, faithful friends.
Tomorrow Matt's preaching two services and then getting ready to be gone again next week for New Room!
