We left Philly around 5 last night and drove the first 7.5 hours of our trip South, and today we're knocking out the final 600 miles. Whew, what a long way...and what a sweet trip. We are all six so very thankful for our time with our Northeastern family!
We celebrated Sofie's 10th and Evie's 7th together on Friday and Saturday with a cousin sleep-over and an Outer Space Olympic party...it was such a fun day for all! Sunday Matt preached three services at Sharptown Church and we were able to see more dear and praying friends, and then the Buckners and Cowans and Pastor Doug (who married us) and all the grandkids and us spent the day cooking out, eating crabs (well, most of us did), swimming and playing.
By the time we hit the road, we were wiped in the best way. We had good time with Uncle Don and Aunt Brenda and the boys, we had good time with Ms. Nikki and her boyfriend Garret. We had good time with lots of the people who came to Haiti and grew to love her over the years. We had good time with Uncle Adam and Aunt Lisa and the sweet girls. I'm never going to stop viewing Mayah as a miracle, and baking cake with her and snuggling on the couch reading books is just priceless.
By the time we got in the car this morning in Bristol, VA, Ben and the dog had absolutely no idea where we were going...and Ben finally asked if we were heading to see Tati Gertha. Nora has eaten Aunt Lori's spaghetti and meatballs for breakfast, lunch and dinner for too many days (she doesn't think so!) Ben has eaten too many cookies (he doesn't think so either!) and everyone has totally lost track of bedtime :)
There are just some precious people we are never going to be ready to leave...people l that we would just love seeing all the time, always. We sure do hate goodbyes.
