I don't mean to flood you with a million pictures, but the last few days have been busy busy and I'm always trying to capture some of the sweetest moments! In no particular order...
We have a lovely double team here from Harvest Bible Chapel this week, half doing mobile medical clinics in student and alumni churches, and the other half going crazy on construction of the new classroom building!
We've also had our friend and CFO Carol here all week, doing some training of our new office manager, who unfortunately is having some family issues and had to return to the States for a month at the end of Carol's stay.
Emmaus also received work this past week of our ECFA accreditation...so exciting! You can read about that here!
I have been loving being out of the finance office so much and focusing more on the 'sharing Emmaus side of life'! There's so much good stuff going on. I'll be filling in some this month while Lori is gone, but hopefully that's IT!
Meanwhile, we also had some fun projects going on this past weekend, and two costume parties, one at the Stolbergs and one at the Heckman's!
We were the Gru family, and the girls had SO much fun!
Ben was a little worried.
Have I mentioned how much we love having Nikki (a wind-up doll :) in our lives?
Sunday Matt preached at Janiels' church...Janiel being in our first graduating class and Jacsene graduating last year...we love these guys and love watching them work together for the kingdom!
Sorry, back to parties...
Our Northern Irish/Canadian neighbors...we love having these leprechauns in our lives!
Phil and Emily (missing Ethan and Haylie this year!)
Rob and Lori
and mother nature Carol
Emily always makes it so fun.
The team was also trying to move medical supplies during our party, so...I love this picture :)
Monday in chapel Eliab sang an awesome Haitian hymn about unity, and >click<, sacred moment.
It's 83 degrees, but that hasn't kept Sofie from enjoying her costume hat to the full :)
Having the medical team also meant that Ben got some vaccines...so thankful for this sweet little man and already wishing he'd slow down his daily changing!
Last night we all packed out the cafeteria after half the team had hiked to Coup-a-David and back, relationship building through English. I love these English chat nights because it allows our teams to do something they are good at (speaking English) and offers the students something they really want (to speak English well!). It also means that the rest of the week, visitors and students each know a few people, and that makes the whole experience of living together rich!
Lily loves these nights like no other...
One of the team members leaving last night was really moved after our prayer time, and noted that he never expected to be praying, in his own language, with Haitian men and women, calling it a "once in a lifetime experience." I often overlook these sacred moments as commonplace, but I was so reminded by him how special that really IS. Praise the Lord for all the opportunities we have to lift each other up, across the table and across the globe.
Dr. Gail also arrived Tuesday and is with us for three works. She's the Dean of our Graduate programs, and we love when she's on campus and relish the good relationships she continues to have with our staff and students...and with the girls!
Thursday the medical team will work in Fev, Friday DiFour, and then they head out, with Matt, on Saturday. Matt's heading to West Park Church in Bridgeton, NJ, doing a teaching series through Isaiah...if you're in the NJ/DE/PA region, he'll be speaking Sunday evening, Monday evening and Tuesday evening, working with Pastor Dave, who also teaches here!
He'll also be getting a few recharge days in his 'homeland', staying with Uncle Terri and Aunt Lori and enjoying fall and some refreshing! He's also hoping to get some time with my sis and her precious family...They need your prayers right now and are heavy on my heart. I'm so thankful he's going to have that opportunity and thankful for your prayers.
Tired yet?
Whew! These are rich and weary days for which we are thankful!
