The last few days have been so sweet...lots of dear friends coming to meet baby Ben, the girls have had either test-prep for their Haitian school testing they missed while we were Stateside or VBS each morning, both of which they are loving, Nora, Sharon, Ben and I have had slightly quieter mornings, Matt has had good office time and is getting lots ready for a new school year, and I still marveling in thankful over this little man, and his sweet sisters, and the gift of Sharon, always steady even when I am not, and the blessing that Matt is in my life.
We spent most of Monday with Granny, who is over the moon and back for Ben. It has been a really big deal to all of our Haitian friends that we did not have him in a hospital, not that that was quite the plan! It's been so interesting to feel out so many cultural things through this baby! Everyone wants to know if he is is Haitian or American, no one can believe we didn't have him in the hospital, and everyone is in awe of seeing a foreign baby just a few days old. Everyone is also loving that he was not only born in Haiti, but that he is the first baby born at Emmaus :)
The kitchen staff all came Monday afternoon to talk and meet Ben and exchange stories, and then to spend good time praying for us and praising the Lord for how perfectly He orchestrated Ben's brith...such a cherished time and so thankful.
Sunday we got to celebrate Lori and her life with a pizza dinner and chocolate cake for dessert! We're just getting to know this couple who lives next door, but already their heart for the Lord and for good work with all of their hearts is such a blessing already!
Our time with Phida was just as precious, catching up from the past five weeks and also getting to know her heart quite a bit more...so thankful.
With the big sisters (baby-hoggers) off at school in the mornings, Nora has become sweetly interested in Ben and loves showing him off to friends. LOVE this time.
This morning, our back yard. I mean, it is insanely, insanely grippingly humid and hot all day and most nights, but man, is it gorgeous.
This morning. The girls, and a pack full of stickers. This is just the beginning.
One of Ben's favorite places is Aunt Sharon, again, when he can be wrestled from his sisters. It's truly too hot to be snuggling, but we're taking advantage of every chance for him to stretch out on us :)
Look at all of his soft feathers! love it. None of the girls had hair like this!
Finally, in the middle of the heat and life's daily hiccups and healing up and adjusting to different life at the Ayars house, and readjusting to life with a lot less sleep, my devotions this morning (and His sunrise) were just so good.
"Fill your mind," O. Chambers says, "with the thought that God is there. And once your mind is truly filled with that thought, when you experience difficulties it will be easy as breathing for you to remember, My heavenly Father KNOWS about all this.
Jesus is laying down the rules of conduct for those people who have His Spirit, and it works on the following principle:
God is my Father.
He loves me.
I will never think of anything that He will forget.
So, why should I worry?"
Praise the Lord.
LOVE Ben with the sticker 'stache...too funny! Can see the girls dressing him up in all types of fashions in the near future. PS. I'm Suzanne Peoples. Worked with Casey as trainers at Sallie Mae and my favorite hair stylist of all is your Mother in law. Bummed when she moved to Florida.
