An open door has swung for us to join all of our brothers and sisters in Haiti...like, end of this month! I need your help and prayers for a few things...
- travel. mercies. Getting everyone to Ft. Pierce FL (12 hour drive), then on MFI (Missionary Flights International) Tuesday morning at 6 am, safely around Northern Haiti, back to MFI, back to Ft. Pierce, back to Mississippi. We're gonna need some angels and lots of grace and coffee. Thank you for beginning to pray for this with us. Aunt Sharon will join us in Ft. Pierce and be with us in Haiti!
- efficient and effective time. A week in Haiti is not much...it takes more than a week to adjust to being there :). I will have dozens of interviews to do, videos and pictures to shoot, classes and chapel services to attend, friends and family to catch up with...please be praying for effectiveness and wisdom with our time!
- grace for gaps. Having Lily out of school for more than a week is not easy, and we'll be missing quite a few things here...those gaps eat at me :). Please pray for Matt as he carries some of those things on his own, and for Lily as she works to go home AND stay up on her school. The homeschool crew is working overtime to take this as their spring break!
-friends and family. This has been such a stretching, challenging and painful long season for Haiti...our friends and family are weary and discouraged. Please pray with us that the Lord would use us as water and oil for the thirsty and wounded. Nothing refreshes me more than sitting with a loving friend...I am praying we can be that.
-open eyes. I want to be able to effectively tell the stories, needs and gems of Emmaus well. Pray that the Lord would give us open eyes to SEE what the Lord is doing and how to best bring prayer and help alongside!
-energy and health. Now that all the conversations have been had and all the doors are open, reservations are made and we are going...I have been surprised by a huge wave of feeling tired, heavy, and a bit doubtful. Can I do this? Can I physically get us there and back? Can I mentally/emotionally? Can I face the heavy bricks of suffering, unfiltered...help my children navigate, love and pour out it all on our dear ones there and pop in to all the things and pop right back out to a very full and very different life and ministry? I am transparently asking you to be holding our ropes and praying for ALL the supernatural help, wisdom, love, energy, patience, and wisdom needed! ALL that is needed is in Him. And I'm His.
-our Granny hearts. We've never ever been in Haiti without Granny. Her loss has felt a lot more real now we're heading there without her...will you pray for all our hearts (especially Sofie) as we process her loss and victory in Jesus, and life without her in a world that's always been full of her, since day one in 2007?
-our brothers and sisters in Haiti! I know I ask for prayers for Haiti all the time, but prayers for Haiti are just needed, all the time. Please pray for the MANY displaced people, the continued insecurity, the humility and wisdom and help needed for leaders and people of influence, for the many men, women and children who work hard and long for stability and freedom from fear! Pray for the pastors being raised up through Emmaus University as they pour out their lives in hard places. Pray for the Lord to carry His people and for peace. Thank you friends...I am grateful for you!
I have been praying for Haiti and for the doors to open up for your visit. Praying for preparations for the trip, for Lily and her schooling, for travels, for strength for all you have to do to get ready, for good health, for an awesome visit, for all you want to accomplish while there, for those who so desperately need Jesus, and being able to say goodbye, for safe travels while there and coming home.
