June 25-27 Matt's speaking to the Association of Independent Methodists in Decatur, AL.
July 5th we'll be at NorthRidge Church in Sabetha, KS, spending precious time with so many who have become family over the years...we cannot wait.
And July 16-26th Matt WILL be speaking at Eaton Rapids CampMeeting in Michigan! While they're not doing their typical kid's ministry this summer (hence Matt making this trip solo), they are having campmeeting, Matt will be teaching daily (and alongside one of his favorites, Dr. Victor Hamilton), and he would LOVE to see you, if you are anywhere near that region.
We are waiting on lots of places to be able to get speaking events back on the calendar for fall (Right now, just Sharptown University in Pilesgrove, NJ, September 20-22), so stay tuned.
Answers to a few random questions:
Are we still homeschooling? We are. After lots of prayer and searching and asking and researching, we have decided to continue on with homeschool (and with our beloved SonLight Curriculum) this upcoming school year. We'll be doing a Friday homeschool program in the fall, Lord willing, and will carry on with this educational-turned-vital-ministry in our home (and on the road) this fall. If you have ANY questions about homeschooling, our summer version, SonLight, whats or whys or hows, I'm pretty passionate about this :) I'd love to talk! email me...
How in the world do we handle cooking for people most nights a week? Next post I'm going to share a few tried and true easy, large-group, recipes. Also, you should see me trying to FIND my tried and true recipes from over the years, when they are all in Haiti. Wail :(
Have we found a puppy for Sofie? WE did not, but an awesome Haiti friend/contact now in Ohio HAS, and is bringing it halfway to our family this weekend on their family vacation. We are so thankful for Sarah, and Sofie is ridiculously excited. oh my.
What's going on in Haiti? Here is an update from our dear friend Guenson, also the Dean of Theology and Ministry at Emmaus. Please please keep praying for our brothers and sisters in Haiti with us.
“In the last two weeks the cases of COVID-19 in Haiti have tripled. Every part of the country is affected now. The skepticism of our people towards the government’s management of the situation and the need for people to go out every day to get food to eat, coupled with our non-existent health care system, opens the way for COVID-19 to create an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in our country. We fear that hunger may prove to be more devastating than COVID-19. This reality causes many people to think that we are coming to a time when life in Haiti may be practically impossible to live, if God does not intervene for us.
Please pray with us. We feel that all our options are soon to be exhausted. Our resources are rapidly depleting. Our resilience and strength as a people are being stretched to the limit. We feel that our life is hanging on a tread. Pray for our church that the Lord will grant us more wisdom to know how to respond to this situation. Pray that the Lord uses this situation to draw the entire nation to himself.
On many occasions, the Bible records various situations where God’s people faced circumstances that were humanly impossible to resolve (cf. Exodus 13-14). But God showed up, displayed His power and glory by rendering the impossible possible. This is our hope. We take comfort in knowing that “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him” (Nahum 1:7 NLT). And we believe that He is able to do “a new thing, to make a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (cf. Isaiah 43:19 NIV).”
