Matt had agreed months ago to preach at our friend Childric's church yesterday, and later when board meetings were scheduled for the same weekend, we weren't sure how the board would feel about a 6 am service :) However, after long days of travel Saturday, they bravely loaded up Sunday morning in the dark, and we were off on a great day!
The service, the balcony, and the stairs were packed out, as always, and it was a gift to worship with our brothers and sisters in Vertier!
The girls went off to kid's church with Anne-Yolie's girls, and I was blessed to get some time with Anne, and with several of our students who are members there.
Well into the service, I was translating for the board and checked the clock and it was 7:30 AM :) Whew! The service concluded around 9, and some beautiful women from the church ushered us into a back room, where they had prepared fragrant pumpkin soup with bread and butter...how special for all of us to be honored by the church so sacrificially and thoughtfully!
After the service, Matt, Lily, Sofie, visiting professors and board headed to the beach for lunch and the afternoon, and I headed home to Nora, Ben and to prepare supper! After dinner last night they all headed down the road to Steve and Shelley's and the SuperBowl...

Ben didn't get to go :) But he DID get a Chiefs shirt, so he was happy!
This morning I taught English 2, but I managed to sneak into staff/board weekly devotionals long enough to get a few pictures. What a lovely room of people for the life-changing Gospel here in Haiti, fragrant as the soup!
It's a rainy today...first rain in many months, and much needed!
Whew, these are catch-your-breath days! Today and tomorrow are full with meetings, cooking, classes, Bible study tonight, chapel, and tomorrow, Academic Convocation...
and sweet moments
relationships
and grace.
