business

A few months ago, a friend asked to borrow $500 to start some kind of a charging station business.

We didn't really understand the plan, as that charging cell phones isn't really a business where we come from, but 1) trusted the friend  2) appreciated his reasonable pay-back plan, and 3) he asked Matt :), so of course we got the money together and hoped for the best for him, his family, and maybe even for our 'investment'.

This past weekend when we were picking up his kiddos for the weekend, he anxiously asked Matt if he wanted to see the business.

So check this out:

Our friend bought a few batteries and a small solar panel, and for 15 gourdes (about 15 cents anymore) people can bring their cell phone and charge it for two hours.  I don't really know the system this crazy photo represents, but he has been paying us back $50 USD/month and is still making money to help support his family, and says he charges phones and batteries for the entire village.

I LOVE it.

I love the reminder that there is a lot more happening than what you see. I love the creativity and hard work gone into doing this project well. I love how excited our friend was to show Matt, and I love how so many people are blessed by it. I love that this project was and is his, through and through, and that we got to just get behind him.

It can be messy, but I love just getting behind people...and sharing some of the adventures with you.

Praise the Lord, messy like me is the business He's always been a part of.
