I've been loving how well Jonas has been keeping us up to date from Gonaives! The last few days they've been going out in the community to share the Gospel, and they spent today at a voodoo temple speaking to people gathering there for a regional celebration. So thankful for all the opportunities they're having to pray with people, to grow and be stretched, and to be His hands and feet, sharing and modeling a different way. THE way.
Meanwhile, we've been getting back to homeschooling this week, which has reminded us that we badly need Nikki to come back :) She's working on her funding and we hope to have her by the end of August?! Meanwhile, I'm loving helping the girls get back at it, and next week they start summer school at Kid's Alive so they can complete the national testing that happened while we were gone.
The afternoons have been fun and loud, some afternoons the big girls going across the street to play at a good friend's house, and some afternoons lots of their friends coming over. It is chaos. But I love love how well they all play together, how quick the older kids are to scoop up the younger kids in tag, how quick they all are to help each other, to imagine games, to play together well. They are used to living in community...and I'm thankful we're a part of that.
Meanwhile, Ben wants someone to sit on this "beep-beep" with him and drive him all around the house 24/7. The girls are sick of it, and yet Ben is still crawling over to it and sitting there, punching the "horn" and yelling "beep! beep!" until someone drives him.
Sisters mean you get ponytails. Tati Micheline means you get lots of love.
I'm also spending a few hours in the office each day, trying to finish up the finances for May, June and July, and joyfully helping Jodenel train Emmaus' new hire, Mano. Drum roll....to take Jodenel's job....Drum roll....so Jo can take MY job. After all these years of filling the gap in the finance office, I am finally almost done. Done-done.
I HATE having to move out of the office we've shared for over five years. I have loved all that time with Jodenel and our students. But I will also love moving all the time that managing the finances takes OUT of my daily schedule. The thought of being able to focus more on teaching, on telling the daily stories of Emmaus, and on supporting our students in community outreach and evangelism--that excites me! I've been praying for this for a lloooonnnngggg time.
Nora's birthday isn't until Thursday (how is that girl turning four!?) but Matt heads to Charlotte for Emmaus Board Meetings on Monday and is going to miss it...so we're pretending it's Sunday! She can't talk about anything else, and thankfully understands nothing about dates :)
Pray with us for Matt's time out, and for Carol coming Monday to help train Mano and Jodenel for the next five weeks, and Rick to help us with the growing list of maintenance projects. Keep joining us in prayer for Jonas, Rujerry, and the students in Gonaives...thank you!
I love that Ben is playing beep beeps too!
