grateful list

So instead of dwelling on everything that I am missing and thinking about all the ways that this cross-cultural living is difficult, I've been trying to deeply enjoy the things we can experience here that we CAN'T at home in Haiti...

Here's just a few...
a big old private back yard where the girls run squealing in their underwear in the early morning...and the fact that there is NO ONE at our door, or window, at this time.

TULIPS.  I know we have gorgeous flowers at home, but we do NOT have tulips.  So pretty.

Being close enough for family to come!!  (So good to have Matt's Mom, "Fancy Grammy", here this week!)
Salad with really yummy stuff in it (yes, most of these things are about food :).  We CRAVE colorful salads at home!!
(if you are one of our readers from Haiti or another 3rd-5th world country, just stop and don't put yourself through this post...we'll see you in a few days!)
Mmmmmm
and of course MMMMMMM.

Trees and views like THIS!
Haircuts, doctors appointments, and Matt would add, air-conditioning.
Berries!  And more ice cream.

And DEFINITELY the dish washer.

Fast and reliable internet, a grocery store 2 minutes away, Matt would also like to add Starbucks, and the girls still think carpeting is fabulous.

And tomorrow, the zoo!

I remember coming home our first furlough and just laying on my grandma's carpet. Ahhh. Making 'snow angels' on the carpet. Double ahhh. After so much tile, dirt, and cement...yes, carpet is AMAZING! :) Cheryl
