Ask the students to do ANYTHING, like read a Bible verse in English, and they will dress up, practice 10 times, ask you about pronunciation and do a great job.
You cannot make people happy. The first thing the missionaries complained about was that the Christmas Carol hour was too loud and long.
The first thing the students complained about was that it was not long enough, and really could have been turned up.
I thought it was perfect :)
I learned today that my very favorite game, of all the games the students play every Christmas, really is Chaise Musical.
I learned that Simeon's nickname of Papa Noel really is perfect.
I learned that third year is never going to take off their soccer medals.
And that giving men stacking glass cooking bowls is a much appreciated gift. That they then want a picture with.
And of course, as we learn every year, NO party, no matter how lighthearted and festive, can be completed without a very serious and formal word from someone seen as important.
I also learned that if you ask Phil to do something, like find a broom stick to play limbo with, he will come back an hour later with this awesome professional grade limbo bar.
I have a feeling that I'm going to learn a lot more at tonight's staff party...
