1) The generator! YES it is back from the States, YES it is working now, YES we are using it full-time again, and YES, we are thankful! A 10 minute storm, and three months and several thousand dollars later, we are back in business!
2) The wall! YES, it is totally re-dug, rebuilt and finished where it had fallen in our flooding. We do not have it all paid for yet, but it is finished and no longer a security issue. Thank you for your help and prayers!
3) The flooding... YES, all the water has dried up, we're not getting much rain again, and those of you who sent bits of help have helped replace so much that was damaged. THANK YOU. I was as overwhelmed as our Haitian friends by your desire to help so quickly and practically after such a hard season.
4) The kittens... YES, they are off. Today our three male kittens headed to new homes, much to the chagrin of the girls (and even Matt and I, I must admit)...but. Life with five cats was getting CRAZY. This is good. Granny, Micheline and Mona now have ratters...hopefully.
5) The goats...They are also heading off. After months of never being able to eat any because they seem to always be pregnant or nursing, different weird goat sicknesses killing them, and a need to entirely rebuild their field for better drainage (a lot of $$$ for $40 dollar goats) they are all in the process of being sold. YES, even the babies :) So, if you want one, let me know. Otherwise, Emmaus is getting out of the goat business!
6) Lily...Ah, this poor girl. She has been a hot mess. I am so incredibly thankful for our dear pediatrician friend in Delaware who continues to take pictures like this...
...with a swollen face and sores all over her face and head to tell us what to get and help us get her better.
SO glad to have her doing better this morning, finally, saying goodbye to her precious :)
7) Yes, it's true the Weaver's have moved back to Kansas. Booo. We are missing them, and excited and praying for them both as they are waiting for their sweet baby to join them any day now. They have taken a job in Nebraska in youth ministry and we're happy they are so excited for the job! They are going to do great. yay. boooo.
8) Soooo, we're drowning? Well...I'd be lying if I said that doing the finances and teaching and the marketing and hostessing and family and cooking was not too much. BUT, I have awesome help. Haylie (12 year old neighbor whizz kid) helps me in the office for a few hours on Wednesdays, Emily does all the payroll for me, Micheline and Gertha continue to be my daily graces, Carol helps from Canada way more than she should have to, Leme, Simeon, Walnique and Moise help me with some of my grading for English classes. And a lot of you are praying. VERY thankful for all of this dear blessed happy-hearted help, and the rest? Phil continues to be a huge help on campus to Matt, we have some great men teaching right now, a full set of visiting professors coming in January...He gives us peace that if it doesn't all get done, it's ok.
OK. I think that's everything everyone has asked about!
Less animals, better health, things working!
Two more weeks 'till Christmas vacation, and our poor students and teachers are burning at their ends! Almost there...working hard! Christmas soccer competitions start on Monday...and that has everyone's spirits lifted :)
Thank you for your continued prayers!!
