the not-so-deep

Lately, I've been feeling like the Lord and life has been putting so much on my heart, I've got a list of journalings/posts to share...meaning the blog's been awful deep.  Let me take a short break and share with you some of the not-so-deeps of the last few days.

1)  Never let Sofie babysit your children.  She loves babies.  She's obsessed with babies.  She would give them a lot of attention.
but she also likes to put them in plastic bags.

2)  These girls are goofballs.  Not only did they put their cat in a backpack and surround her with homemade potholders (which the cat then loved, and stayed for hours...do you see her?) but they also turn goof as soon as I pull out the camera.

3) Animals are non-culture.  ALL CATS LOVE TO DESTROY YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE.  Doesn't matter where they're from :)

4) My Christmas mug has never been so true.  Even the coldest, 75 degree days, feel warm when we're together!

5)  Being with these guys is ALWAYS fun.  Last weekend these students shared the Gospel throughout the community, held outdoor evening services and led a Sunday morning service in a community not far from here called Makaty.

I know these aren't perfect men and women.  But they continue to give their time, their energy, and their best to making Him known in a dark country and world, and coming alongside of them with our time, finances, and gifts unto Him continues to be a great, great blessing.

6)  When I saw Birds of Paradise in California for the first time as a child, I was mesmerized.   I remember thinking they were the most exotic and beautiful thing ever.  I must have taken a dozen pictures of them!

And here we have this huge bush of them in front of our house, and I never even notice them!  Aren't they beautiful?

7)  This morning, the girls made snowmen :)
Not so fun fact, the girls are really sick again.  Coughing, wheezing, fevers, shortness of breath, congestion (you can totally tell here that Lily doesn't feel good.)  Last night was a L-O-N-G night of stuffiness and tears.

Needless to say, we are VERY tired and concerned about having girls who are CONSTANTLY sick...it seems that as soon as they get better, they are getting sick again.  While they are chock full of vitamins and supplements, eat well, wash hands, bleach toys, and get plenty of sleep, the second we send Lily to school with 600 other kids, she comes home ill again, and then Sofie picks it up.

While I know this is probably true of 90% of kids who go to school...we're concerned and hate living one illness to the next, and hate the girls missing out on so much because of illness and fatigue.  Will you pray with us for all of our immunities as we continue to live in a place where most people's reality  IS being sick all of the time...and pray for guidance if we need to make some kind of change that we're just not seeing?  THANK you.

Matt is off to preach today at a special English gathering down the road, I'm staying home with the cough-sisters, and we are getting ready for a big week with an orality conference and Dr. Charles Lake, friends coming in for a few days, and getting ready for final exams!

  1. I will be praying for your girls. It's so hard having littles in school but back-to-back illness is awful. We usually go through 2 bad colds or coughs each school year, so I can't imagine any more. Praying right now!
