The saying in the areas around Baron is that it's mountain top-- li pa yon blag--it's not a joke.
Leaving before 5 am in order to get there in time for the 10:30 service? Definitely not a joke.
Fording a river and hiking...
...climbing, picking our way up and down mountain after mountain in the blazing sun...
not a joke.
Ezechiel, doing all that EVERY SINGLE WEEK?
yeah. you know.
Taking apart the entire church because the owner of the land was afraid of being harmed and so pushed them off his land, and then reassembling the entire thing a mile down the road and absolutely refusing to complain about it? li pa yon blag.
Worshiping with men, women and children who have hiked as far as we have, and realizing that they LIVE HERE...realizing that the "middle of nowhere" is actually HOME to thousands?
No joke.
Being kissed by Ezechiel's mom, sweaty and smokey from standing over the fire and cooking for us the entire service, and seeing the joy of the Lord drip from her every fiber?
Seeing Ezechiel treat every man, woman and child on the mountain like they are his mission-field, watching him pour out every moment, every gift, every penny and every opportunity for the church, school and community God's undoubtedly brought him to, for NO glory, NO money, NO honor and nothing but hardships, as if it were all unto Him?
For a man who made us laugh so much today, there is NO JOKE in Ezechiel's call and obedience.
And I am sore, and sunburnt, and exhausted.
But today was fantastic, and I have so much to share with you!!
No joke.
Absolutely inspired beyond measure in reading these. I've read them backward this moring in a catch-up effort and it has been worth the reading. This is why God has put you on my prayer heart.
ReplyDeleteThank you, friend...I wasn't sure anyone was reading :) I am greatly inspired as well...thank you for your prayers!
