Ah, what a wonderful couple of days with family. Everyone should take a few days--every few months--to step away from their lives and think. Think about what we're doing. How we're doing it. Who we're doing it with. What He's wanting. What we need to start and stop. How He's trying to work. How we can do better.
And if you can throw a little magic in there, too?
Especially for those little ones you love the most?
YES.
They loved the Magic Kingdom. They were waving and squealing and eating cotton candy and loving every minute of it.
They tried to learn a few new things, like floating (in the hot tub...Florida's just too cold this time of year for us warm weather birds!)
And sometimes at least one of them wore both shoes.
This has been designated by Lily as a "Chop-anese Restaurant." And again...it was Love.
And Lily was so stinking shy when the servers sang to her that she couldn't look away from the cupcake.
but was then thrilled about it after they left :)
The Dumbo ride was one of their favorites, as was a 3D Mickey Movie, in which it was all we could do to keep Lily from attacking the person's head in front of us while trying to grab at the 3D objects.
Add in great time with family...
and a trillion other people.
A Disney expert-friend from New Jersey, Trish, made so much of our day possible by giving us pointers and tips, priorities and even a giving us a plan to make the things the girls would love the most possible in just one day. Trish, seriously, thank you. Jeremiah, it might be some kind of an illness, but it sure did bless us :)
Ah, I love these people dearly. And that castle?
I don't know what it was...I am 30, and lived quite a bit of reality, but it is somehow still mesmerizing. When the princesses came out of the castle to dance on the stairs with the princes, Lily was grinning SO big, and I (to my shame) admit to you that my eyes actually filled with tears. I mean, what is that??? Please don't tell your friends.
And the princess parade? Super fun.
What is more fun than watching your kids have a blast?
Then at night they had a huge street dance party, and as we were all dancing around with the kids and with Mr. Incredible and Sebastian--IN pants--I thought, "I SO do not feel like a missionary right now." And I'm not gonna lie--that was nice, too :)
Dad and Lisa and Adam are on their way out, the EBS board is on their way in, and I'm just incredibly thankful for a few days to rest and to be and to re-evalutate, for a few reminders that He intends joy and fun and happy things in our lives, and for the moments and family and memories He's been a part of and given us this past week.
Oh Trish most definitely has the disney sickness!! We were blesses enough to experience it first hand....with four littles in tow and three (at the time) childless couples!! lol. It was years ago and we still can't stop talking about it - exhausting but so completely worth it!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to have some non-missionary fun.....that's important <3
Of course it's exhausting Lorraine! You just can't stop and leave when you are having so much fun! I still remember taking Jess to ride Stitch at 1am because she had been so patient all day!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Stacey-- looks like you had a blast!!!!! So glad!
AH how fun! It will be a few years before we make it and I don't have a little princess to take with me, but I can't wait for Disney. Our youth pastor and friend, Cale, took his family while they were in Cali for his brother's wedding and Tristan was asking us when we would go non-stop (he can be awfully persistent and I'm not sure if that's his age or his autism, but either way ugh). So Anthony, in a moment of weakness bless his heart, told Tristan that we would go in 5 years. So every once in awhile still (so you know he's not forgetting) he'll say "when I'm 10 we're going to Disneyland." I can't wait!! I may have to hit you up for those tips from your friend when we go. :) So great to see you all having such fun; your girls are so lovely. :) thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love that you got to do this! and when I was 4 and got to go to Disney, Dumbo was my favorite ride too :)
