Who, after not being in Haiti for 2 months, as an incredibly shy 3 year old, asks her mom to leave her at Noel's house to play and comes home happy 2 hours later...with a tarantula leg?
And who, after receiving a fist full of cheetos, proceeds to shove them in her mouth as fast as she can so she can shove her grubby hands in all the other kids bags and wolf down way more than her fair share?
And what kind of mom, knowingly and willingly, lets their one year old play with a Doberman?
A terrible one. (please, only love here and no lectures...trust me, I have been running myself through the wringer all day long. There is NO way you can be as hard on me as I am being on myself, so you don't have to try. We would NEVER have a Doberman in the States. But the Doberman protects our girls and our home. Wonderfully. He did not attack her...just knocked her away with his wide open mouth...but trust me, they will NEVER be playing with him again.)
What a horrific and terrifying afternoon. (Sofie is ok.)
What kind of neighbors run at your call, rush off campus to buy super glue, clean the blood, open their home, get me calm, bloody their towels, sit with me, glue the wound and act like all of that was nothing?
What kind of pediatrician gives you his phone number, answers when you pick up though he's in Montana for his daughter's wedding, and coaches you through how to sterilize and superglue your daughters head wound? And tells you what meds to buy? And follows up with two emails? And calls later in the day? And will call again tomorrow?
And what kind of women leave their homes and families in New Jersey, come ALL the way to Haiti, and spend their first day in the 100 degree heat cleaning inches of dust and piles of cobwebs and rat droppings in your home from top to bottom, do all of your family's laundry, and even put your 3 year old down for a nap while you're taking care of above crisis?
And what kind of team, in the incredibly blazing sun, spend the entire day on their hands and knees, weeding and painting a huge seminary campus to love and serve their Haitian brothers and sisters?
And what kind of woman has spent the last FOUR months reading EVERY SINGLE ONE of our blog posts since over FIVE years ago to prepare for her trip?
And what kind of group of 14-60 year olds are happily getting in an open bed (more blazing sun) truck at SIX AM tomorrow morning to drive TWO hours to a remote area to share the gospel with men, women and children and door-to-door all day tomorrow in a foreign culture and a foreign tongue?
And what kind of friend willingly offers to play with and love on your two precious girlies all day so that for once, you can go and be a part of the ministry day, too?
And what kind of students pay their own way to travel all the way to Saccanville to meet the team, to endure the trip, to minister to people they have never met with a group they've never met?
And what kind of God...what kind of God foresaw the day, loved me dearly, gave me my girls, this work, this group, these students, this pediatrician, this friend, and a relationship with Himself that makes Such emotional days like today full of praise, testimony and His stability?

DeleteRyan used to play with my sister in law's Doberman and Rotweiller when he was little. These type of things happen and you shouldn't blame yourself. Just think of all that first aid that you learned! God is good!
