Jesus wept.

This just seems to be a time of loss for Emmaus!

This morning we received a phone call from past-graduate Enick Senat, saying that his mother had just passed away.  Walnique, his younger brother, is currently a first year student.

Matt was pulled out of class to hear the news and to help put together a plan for Walnique to go right away to be with his family.

This must be a cultural thing we do not yet understand, because when Matt surprisingly saw Walnique a few hours later at lunch, he put his arm around him and told him how sad he was to hear that his mother had passed away...only to discover that no one had told Walnique yet.

Walnique

Enick and Walnique are two men that we just greatly cherish, and we've devastated with them over the loss of their mom.  Enick, you may remember, is the pastor of the Coup-a-David mountain church we have come to love, and Walnique is not yet 20.

Please pray with us for them as they go through this together.

Last week, someone asked the question in Bible study, "If we truly believe that there is no better thing than being with Jesus, why do we act like death for believers is so awful?"  I'm trying to keep this Praise the Lord perspective mixed into my pain for her godly and shocked family.   Jesus did indeed weep for Mary and Martha, though He knew death had no victory over Lazarus.

Thank you for your prayers, and if you know Walnique or Enick, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you (You can email them or me, and I'll pass emails on.  They are both very strong in English.)
