Tonight ten of the guys and us watched this movie because, well, Martin brought it, and we've all seen all the other ones we have. (We are the Blockbuster's of Saccanville).
And WOW. What a GREAT movie to watch with these young men. If you haven't seen it, it focuses on men, especially, striving to become Godly, responsible, caring leaders, good husbands, good fathers...full of integrity.
Not only are many of our students from homes where their fathers were absent, but many of them are new husbands and young fathers as well. It was GREAT. And for once, I wasn't the only one crying.
What a heartbreaking and beautiful thing to see the Lord working on all of our hearts through this movie. By the end, there were tears all around, and you could see the Lord working on hearts.
One of our friends has two children from before he chose to follow Christ, and isn't involved in their lives. One is about to be married. Most of them do not have fathers that have exemplified Christ in their lives, and several of them have been abandoned by fathers infuriated over their decisions to follow their Heavenly Father.
I had to hide in the bedroom praying by the end because I can't handle men crying :)
Praying that the seeds the movie planted will take root.
God has sent a very godly, intelligent, soft-spirited group of young men to Emmaus...the very young men that Haiti needs to be set apart, disciplined, strong and courageous.
