highlights of the week

--catching up with Harold and Mary (past Haiti missionaries) over lunch today, and being completely inspired and rejuvenated by some of their stories.

You know that he once stood up to a group of men shaking machetes at him, trying to break-in and threatening to literally cut off his head, to which he boldly stood his ground, told them they would not enter, and told them that they could only kill him if God allowed it?  So many great stories...So thankful for this good time with them.

--finding out that the new student that Matt and I have been secretly referring to as "zoray" (ears) to each other has already been dubbed "Zoray" by all the students (nicknames are big here among the guys).  Seriously, the weekend guys didn't even know his real name.  Gedeus is a great guy.  And has great ears.

--finding out that one of YOU is SO generously buying and sending Lucner a new, SO BADLY needed laptop...THANK YOU!

--Matt got a good Skype chat in with his good friend/pastor, Doug...made his week

--having one of my first year students be SO excited over knowing the bonus question on their first test that he announced the answer to "what are these?" loudly.  four times.  while waving his arms wildly.  His new nickname is "Mr. Chopsticks."  I was cracking up.

--three friends offered to come this or next semester.  Amen and yay for that.  And Yipee.  How about Monday?

--NOT a highlight, but high energy: walking into the bedroom at 10 o'clock finding a huge rat hanging out in our shower.  "WHERE IS UNCLE DON!  WE NEED UNCLE DON!"  Long story short...60 minutes with brooms, buckets, flashlights, rat poison, standing on top of furniture, screaming and squealing and running...NEVER got the rat and then a sleepless night knowing it was SOMEWHERE in our room waiting to kill us.  (after five years.  pathetic.  we are pathetic.)

Suddenly it's Saturday again, and we're enjoying a nice steamy day at home with the girls and a pile of laundry, and then tomorrow morning head out with a bunch of the students to Berthil's church in Limbay where Matt is preaching...should be great!
