We are here.  New World Record!  39 hours from Haiti to Florida! (if you ever beat this, let us know, and we will hand over the title).  10:30 pm, hotel in West Palm Beach after a truly harrowing last 30 minutes of flying time that had all of us reaching for the barf bags.  It is COLD, and SO  good to be at the "final destination" of the first leg of our journey.

We thought our hotel last night was nice because the door locked, there was certain amount of warm water, and because when one of our cracked glasses broke off in Lily's mouth, they replaced her juice for free.

With bags and carseat in hand tonight, literally stumbling out of the 50 degree weather in Florida wearing flip flops and shorts/skirts, we checked into what we now remember is ACTUALLY a nice hotel.  Lily went nuts when we came in and she saw that there was a bathtub, and got a quick warm bath "Poppy, a NICE BATH!" before climbing into her own bed with FOUR pillows, which she celebrated for quite a long time before finally falling asleep, "Lily pillows!  A LOT!"  And there are no bugs in the bed.  And there is wireless internet.  And electricity.  And you can brush your teeth with the water from the tap!  l-u-x-u-r-y

Thank you for all your prayers for us these past days.  Tomorrow we have the morning to rest and then head to Denver around 1, Lord willing.  If we were freezing this evening (and we WERE) then I just don't know how we're going to do Denver.  We will be the ONLY people on that plane in flip flops and short sleeves...I guarantee it.  First stop Denver...Wal-Mart!

He's been so faithful!

  1. Oh my! I'm pretty sure that beats any adventure we've encountered here in Africa! You win the Missionary Survivor for this season!;) Ironically, our closest competition to that story would actually take place in Europe, not Africa. Nothing like some "hardship" to teach us thankfulness. I'm sure you're exhausted now, but I bet this will be one of those memories you will back on with a smile for a long time (not that you'll want to repeat it!). Love you guys!
