going?

There have been a LOT of times these past four years that our call to Haiti has meant that I was NOT there for my sister and my dad.  When dad had surgery...when Lee got engaged... Thanksgivings... birthdays... moving...new jobs...a lot of things.

But my baby sister is getting married.  I don't care if there have been no flights for 4 days, if we have to WALK to Miami, hitchhike to the Dominican or grow wings.  I AM NOT MISSING THIS WEDDING!  The fact that Matt is the one marrying them adds to the predicament.

SO, we've contacted EVERY airline and told all of them that we want on the first flight they DO make, whenever that might be.  Today we heard back from one, who plans to try to make a flight tomorrow.  "Word on the street" is that things should calm a touch for the weekend, and then tense up again on Monday for next week.  This might be our only chance...

Our plan had been to leave Wednesday, but with the idea that it might be tomorrow or never, we have been running around like crazy people today trying to plan lessons, print tests, prepare paychecks, clean the house, find subs, pack and get ready to leave...maybe...tomorrow.

Everything is almost done...Please be praying for this plane to come tomorrow (or sometime before the wedding), for a safe trip to the airport in the middle of town, for the airport to be open, for safety for Abel, who will be taking us, and for a safe and smooth flight from here, to Port-au-Prince (to pick up some other "urgent" passengers), to Pignon (more passengers), to the Bahamas (to get fuel) and then to West Palm Beach, Florida.  Promises to be a long day.

Meanwhile, we had a good time with "the guys" today, our staff got in and were able to teach, and we were able to have some good "end of the year"time with the staff and students.  It doesn't matter HOW tense things are...the men and women at EBS love each other and have such a great time together, even just taking our end of the year group photo this morning!  We're blessed to be here...and blessed to have a way to Denver...Lord willing!
