We knew we were glad my dad was coming, but we didn't realize how much we needed time with him until he got here!
Being continually so sick has been a bit depressing for Matt and I both, and has cut down big time so many of the activities that we love....getting out in the community, visiting distant student churches, even having time together in the evenings (we've both been going to bed right after Lily at 8 pm!) By the time Dad got here, we were both feeling pretty discouraged and down in the dumps. But he brought presents, news from home, and best, just his friendship, which was JUST what we needed.
Lily will NOT detach from "Gampa", following him around every moment, Matt and he have been playing some Wii golf in the evenings and catching Matt up on the football season, I've gotten to hear first-hand about my sister, fall in Ohio, friends and family, and our moods lifted significantly the same day he arrived. There is no doubting it, we all need family in our lives, especially when we're struggling. We praise the Lord that He sent us some right when He knew we needed it.
So thankful, too, for the prayers of YOU as our family.
Dr. Bill and Ruth Cooper both began teaching at Emmaus today, and we are thankful to have them back, and to have the McCluskey's here to care for their meals, transportation, etc!
Last Friday was "Port-au-Prince Missions Trip" chapel, and I finally have some great stories and testimonies and details from their days down south. James is still in Port with his brothers and sisters...thank you for your prayers!
Also, please be praying for our missionary family living at the main compound. There have been several major issues of theft there in the past several weeks (about 20 minutes from where we live), resulting in the loss of an inverter, household items, several car batteries, and last night, a laptop (while the missionary was in the next room.) How unsettling! Please be praying for the safety of all involved, for a stop in the cycle, and for the spirits of each person who has lost valuable and rare items...
Continuing to pray
