Other ways you can help...

You all have been just so faithful in your emailing and praying and we want to whole-heartedly thank you. We have felt so well lifted up and surrounded, and that has been so important. THANK YOU.

This morning was very helpful in giving us more direction as we start to close out this "emergency relief panic" time and head into some long-term ministry to help meet the needs of all those who lost much in the January 12th earthquake, whether they are in Port or here in Cap-Haitien.

Thousands of people continue to flood to the North, and we are asked dozens of times a day to help send money to enable family members to come. There are so many ways that you can help, and we have some new ways to share with you.

1) medical personnel: Dr. Gavin, a doctor from Northern Ireland that used to be a missionary here, has returned to help run medical teams right outside of Port-au-Prince. He needs surgeons, trauma people, ER people and nurses that are prepared to do LOTS of dressing. These are the people we are looking for right now! If you qualified in one of these areas and ready and willing to come, please email us.

2) supplies: We need the following supplies at OMS Headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, to be put on a container and sent down. If you are near Indiana, or are interested or helping in the purchase of these supplies, the container will send as soon as it is full.
lumber, 2x4 and 2x6
steel roofing
clothes and shoes
shovels
hammers
pick axes
sledge hammers
roofing nails
3/4" plywood
bicycles
Bibles (CREOLE language only)
check out OMS International's web site for address/phone numbers.

3. OMS's Haiti relief fund: This fund is being used to purchase medical supplies, transport people, food, water, bicycles, etc. to send to Port, and ALSO being used to work here in Cap-Haitien to help refugees. This will be done through Emmaus churches throughout the area, and will also include purchasing food, water, Bibles, etc. This relief fund number is 405120, and you can easily give on OMS International's web site.

If you are reading this blog posting from Canada, the project number is 70517 and in order to qualify for a Canadian tax receipt, you must donate through the OMS Canada office.

I think that is all I know :) Medical teams start arriving tomorrow, Dr. Gavin is in Port right now locating a good site and setting up, Matt, Lily and I spent the day in Cap Haitien buying them food and supplies to go down with the team, and we're beginning working on how we can best come alongside the church for long-term ministry in Northern Haiti. We also learned today that the Seminary should begin classes February 17th, Lord willing, and already have seminary students from Port stopping at the gate asking for information.

Please continue to be praying, most that He would clearly guide and lead ALL as we try to make Him known and love His people here in Haiti. THANK YOU!

  1. We have been praying Dr Gavin would return. What a blessing. I hold fast to Jeremiah 29 vs 11 for hope and a good future for Haiti
