free indeed

Wrapping up school subjects...final day of preschool for Ben-Ben today...Mother's Day, with all the sweet and hard...Matt gone all week at a conference...family walks...small group and cooking for 40...driving the party bus...four teeth and pigtails...my sister's bday...Emma trying hard to get in those first steps...four more days of school for my bonus girlies and two more weeks of Algebra for Lily...solving equations for charting circles and ellipses (if I EVER learned this, I sure.don't.remember.or.know.why)...driving all the places as a single mama...spending time with half the Heckmans while they're in town...

It's been a full week and it's only Wednesday night.

A very emotional teenager who was mostly mad about a dress and I had a hard conversation that re-reminded me of the truth. Just because it feels like a competition doesn't mean you have to compete. Just because someone/something is trying to steal your joy doesn't mean you have to give it up. Just because it's rocky doesn't mean you have to give up your peace. Just because it's 'not fair' doesn't mean we have to be bitter or resentful. 

Life doesn't have to call the shots on our mind and heart, because JESUS. We have the one and only, miraculous ability to live set apart and free from our pasts, our circumstances, from those around us, clinging to His hem...living in His truth...readjusting for His perspective. 

I am SO thankful.  Imma keep preaching it and trying to live it for my tweenagey daughters who sometimes aren't so sure.

Matt'll be back soon from a president's conference near Atlanta, and we have Haiti friends from Canada coming for the weekend!
