We were all kind of surprised on our walk to church yesterday to find the road cut by rocks, remnants of burning tires and road debris, as that our little mud hut village isn't usually touched by much political heat...but our road IS the main road between Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitian, and so we were thankful we decided to play it safe and not attempt driving anywhere.
It was a GOOD day to be in church, worshipping still with many of our Haitian brothers and sisters, singing of His secure placement on the throne, praying for our country, focusing on Him.
Due to the roads being cut in so many places, we were committed to home for the Sabbath, and had a nice day getting more pre-baby baking/cooking done, trying to bear up under the heat, and resting.
I'm so thankful we don't have teams trying to come and go, as many other missions do...OMS was hoping to finally get their team out today (Monday), as that most flights were going to try to resume and efforts are being taken to clean up.
Ben is waiting and so we all are too, praying for Haiti and those trying to come and go, for a country so often between a rock and hard place, for our staff and students and friends and family throughout Haiti staying out of the way and also trying for and needing things to be better, and enjoying these days that God has given us each other and His presence, and sometimes a breeze!
