Once again, fall doesn't creep into Haiti with red slowly taking over the green leaves, with hints of chill in the air and pumpkin additions to every drink and food known to man.
Once again, fall settles into Haiti online, with red creeping images like this one on our phones and nothing but blue skies and sunshine overhead, the chill of fall spreading instead with memories of hurricanes past and the great, overwhelming devastation that just a little bit of red wreaks this island.
You cannot prepare sheets of tin and walls of wood--our village and a thousand others--for a category 5 hurricane. You cannot prepare your heart or mind or neighborhood for the instant effects of this kind of water and wind to the drinking water, the sewers, the garbage, the "roads", the markets, the thousands of low and fragile homes and villages alongside the ocean.
So we are praying - please pray with us - that Irma would do what some have done and come strong and hard on the radar images and weak and mild on the island. We are praying - please pray with us - that we would all be the salt and light and hope, that we would all be the courageous, that we would all be the mighty of prayer, the unwavering of trust.
Just a reminder...we may well be without internet and phone soon, which God doesn't need, so we praise Him.
Thank you!
"The Lord sat as KING at the flood,
Yes, the Lord sits as king forever.
The Lord will give strength to His people,
The Lord will bless His people with peace."
Psalm 29 : 10-11
