A few pix from a few busy days...This semester it's a rarity to have a small class! Matt's got 17 for Intro to Old Testament on Tuesday, I've got 27 on Monday's for English one, Leme has 35 for Intro to Greek and today Cladia was teaching with a microphone in the library with over 50 students in her youth ministry class! I'm always thankful Matt and I get to spend some time teaching first year...it's always a gift getting to know the men and women God's sent our way!
Last week one of the schools had some days off due to potential strikes, and so Matt had a few of Lucner's victories (here, Victoria and Victor) watching Frozen in his office...I just love this sweet picture of part of their family! Mama Luna was in class, with two more at home! (Victorious and Victory)
Meanwhile, this year we've continued to dedicate Thursday night dinners to good community time, this year for staff, neighbors, alumni, students, pastors, friends...however we feel led each week! Tonight that meant the kitchen staff, which made me a bit nervous to be cooking for cooks, but we calculated over dinner they've served Matt and I EACH some 1,800 lunches in the last 10 years, so...
They were also a bit nervous to be eating American food (chicken pot pie...which they decided most makes sense to call "chicken cake with sauce"), but it ended up being an awesome time with lots of laughter and memories and teasing and getting to know the two new cooks better, and Matt and Edlin sticking together with all these women!
Sofie continues to utterly IGNORE any indication that a picture is being taken...something Nora is following suit.
But don't worry...she's looking at the camera in this one:
oh my heavens.
Very thankful for good time together and the gift of each other. When we have dear ones over, without fail someone says, "We pray that God will bless you for this kindness," and I always think to myself, "God IS blessing us by you being here"...and that's the truth.
Meanwhile, I'm also very thankful that our practically-family Amy finally safely met her healthy baby Elizabeth Maria tonight! Three babies we're been fervently praying for down (Micheline's granddaughter, Nick and Nikki's number four, and now Amy) and one more sweet little man to meet...please keep praying for Claudin and Josie (remember their heart-wrenching powerful continual story here...about their last baby they handed straight back to Jesus after so many previous) as they wait and pray, with HOPE.
Micheline is also still in the DR, and still just not really feeling well. Her last appointment is supposed to be tomorrow, and I hope she'll be able to return home for her family's sake...not only Miloura, but also her 5 and 11 year old sons, and both Wousidlande and Withlande.
Tomorrow is Matt's birthday, so once we got dinner away and girlies off to bed, I've been baking fall pies and looking forward to celebrating him, and meeting the extended family of some dear friends over bday dinner tomorrow night! Lily and Sofie are also just a few days away from finishing homeschool 3rd and 1st grade (yes, I'm aware it's the start of October...this is what happens when you decide to start homeschooling four years ago...in March) so we've been pushing to finish all and finish well! Nora and Sofie have been quite sick for over a week now, and we've finally had to start Sofie on antibiotics...hopefully they'll have the weekend to recover!
A meaningful word from my man Oswalt (I hope he doesn't mind me calling him that) to send you off...
Never apologize for your Lord. The words of the Lord will hurt and offend until there is nothing left to be hurt or offended.
Jesus Christ had NO tenderness whatsoever toward ANYTHING that was ultimately going to ruin a person in His service to God.
Our Lord's words are not based on some whim or impulsive thought, but on the knowledge of what is IN man
So sweet to serve those who serve you.
